About Crisis Text Line
Crisis Text Line offers free, 24/7, confidential mental health support via text in both English and Spanish, powered by a community of trained volunteer Crisis Counselors. Using compassion and active listening, we help texters navigate tough moments by guiding them toward their own strengths and coping strategies. At the heart of empathy and innovation, we meet people where they are — promoting mental well-being, one conversation at a time.
In The Numbers
Since our launch in 2013, we have supported nearly 11 million conversations and helped more than 5 million texters in the United States.
Supported over 6 million people in nearly 15 million text message conversations across the UK, the US, Canada and Ireland.
On a global level, our volunteers have donated over 8.5 million hours.
Crisis Text Line has become a crucial resource for individuals in need, with trained volunteer Crisis Counselors responding to over 300 million messages from people in emotional distress in the U.S., and over 400 million together with its global affiliates.
Crisis Text Line has trained more than 85,000 U.S. volunteers (over 110,000 across the UK, the US, Canada and Ireland).
In 2024 alone, Crisis Text Line supported more than 1.4 million conversations, and in the process, exchanged over 30 million messages with people who reached out to us in need.
In 2024, Crisis Text Line’s volunteers have donated 700,000 hours to support texters in crisis.
On a daily basis, over 3,500 people text us for support.
